Senior Data Scientist
The Senior Data Scientist at Confidential Client leads the development and operation of AI/ML models and pricing engines that drive real-time credit and risk decisions. This role involves end-to-end ownership of production systems, rigorous model validation, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to implement innovative data-driven solutions that transform financial services for small businesses.

What You’ll Do
This is a Senior Data Scientist role focused on production ML, risk-based pricing, and credit/risk modeling in a fintech environment. You will own model-driven systems end-to-end and partner with product, engineering, and DevOps to ship, monitor, and govern models that directly impact pricing and credit decisions.
- Utilize advanced statistical and machine learning techniques to analyze large datasets and build production-ready AI/ML models.
- Develop and pressure-test pricing and credit proposals with statistical rigor — models and well-tested policy changes.
- Perform exploratory data analysis (EDA), feature engineering, and ETL to prepare data for modeling and production.
- Own, operate, and enhance a proprietary risk-based pricing engine (production Python application): models, business logic, deployment, and monitoring.
- Deploy and monitor models for both real-time and batch processing with CI/CD, logging, and rollback plans.
- Implement and maintain strong model governance: versioning, documentation, monitoring for drift, validation, and a defensible audit trail.
- Design and analyze A/B tests and experiments to measure impact and communicate findings to business stakeholders.
- Use modern AI and LLM tooling to accelerate EDA, feature engineering, model prototyping, testing, and documentation.
- Produce clear statistical visuals and summaries to explain model behavior and business impact to non-technical audiences.
- Collaborate across teams to identify opportunities in onboarding credit, ongoing credit, marketing segmentation, voice/text analytics, sentiment analysis, risk quantification, and risk-based pricing.
What We're Looking For
- 4–7 years of Data Science experience, preferably within Financial Services, Credit, or Lending.
- Master’s degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science, or a related field.
- Strong production-oriented skillset: comfortable owning software and services in production (not just notebooks).
- Proficiency in Python and SQL for data wrangling, ETL, modeling, and automation.
- Hands-on experience with AWS (compute, storage, IAM), containerized deployment, and operating production ML services.
- Experience with model evaluation, validation, monitoring, and lifecycle management.
- Solid statistical foundations: EDA, feature engineering, model fitting/tuning, model comparison, and defensible validation.
- Familiarity with model risk management, model governance, and fair-lending considerations (strong plus).
- Experience building credit or risk models for Financial Services, Lending, or Insurance.
- Experience with dashboarding/visualization tools (Power BI or similar).
- Comfort using modern AI/LLM tooling to improve speed and quality of analysis (plus).
- Experience with dbt is a major plus.
Nice-to-haves
- Prior experience owning a pricing or real-time decisioning engine.
- Experience designing rigorous A/B tests in a commercial product environment.
- Experience with MLOps tooling, CI/CD for ML, and observability platforms.
- Familiarity with text/voice analytics, sentiment analysis, or NLP model deployment.
