Role Overview

Confidential Client (a leading private equity firm) is hiring a hands-on Senior Data Scientist to join a small, high-impact Value Creation & AI team. You will work directly with portfolio company leadership and deal teams to discover, scope, and deliver applied AI and analytics solutions that unlock measurable operational and financial value across the portfolio.

What You’ll Do

• Work on-site with portfolio company teams to gather, clean, and analyze workforce, financial, and operational data (headcount, spend, org design, process metrics).
• Build and iterate quantitative models to estimate AI-driven efficiency and value opportunities across functions and processes.
• Turn one-off analyses into reusable frameworks and playbooks that can be applied across multiple portfolio companies.
• Present findings directly to portfolio company executives and investment committees; you own the narrative and supporting analysis.
• Collaborate with engineers to move models and analytics from notebook prototypes to productionized pipelines and dashboards.

Required Qualifications

• 2–3 years at a top-tier strategy consulting firm with hands-on analytics experience, or equivalent applied data science experience in a client-facing, fast-moving environment.
• Strong quantitative skills: statistical analysis, segmentation, forecasting, and applied ML, with business judgment to pick the right approach.
• Hands-on Python (pandas, scikit-learn or similar) and SQL skills — you write production-quality code and queries.
• Demonstrated ability to convert vague business questions into structured analysis and clear, actionable conclusions.
• Comfortable presenting to senior stakeholders, including portfolio company leadership and investment committees.
• Intellectual curiosity, strong analytical instincts, and high autonomy.

Nice to Have

• Background in private equity, corporate strategy, or organization/workforce analytics.
• Experience with generative AI or LLM-based tools applied to business problems.
• Experience supporting multiple clients or portfolio companies simultaneously.
• Familiarity with production ML engineering practices and MLOps.
