What You’ll Do

You will join a data & analytics team at a confidential client in the Utility / Energy sector to design, build, and maintain business intelligence solutions that enable data-driven decisions across operations, finance, and performance teams.

• Lead design, development, and delivery of Power BI reports and dashboards (data modeling, DAX, visual design)
• Build Power Platform solutions (Power Apps, Power Automate) to automate workflows and improve operational efficiency
• Work with stakeholders to gather requirements, translate business needs into analytics solutions, and iterate on deliverables
• Develop and maintain ETL/data pipelines using SQL and Power Query; validate and document data sources and transformations
• Implement data governance best practices: metadata, lineage, access controls, and performance tuning
• Troubleshoot report performance, resolve data quality issues, and support user adoption through training and documentation
• Partner with engineering and data teams to integrate BI solutions into broader analytics platforms

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years in business/data analysis or BI development, ideally with experience in the utility or energy sector
• Proven experience building production Power BI solutions (data modeling, DAX, Power Query)
• Hands-on experience with the Power Platform (Power Apps and Power Automate) to deliver end-to-end apps and automations
• Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational data sources; familiarity with cloud data platforms is a plus
• Solid analytical/problem-solving skills and ability to translate complex data into clear visualizations
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; experience collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders
• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field or equivalent practical experience

Nice to Have

• Familiarity with energy/utility datasets, KPIs, and regulatory reporting
• Experience with Azure services (Synapse, Data Factory, Databricks) or other cloud ETL/orchestration tools
• Knowledge of data governance frameworks and BI deployment best practices
• Prior experience delivering change management, training, or documentation for end users

Location & Work Model

This role is based in Oakland, CA. Local candidates are preferred to support on-site collaboration with business stakeholders. Specific work-model details (onsite/hybrid) will be confirmed by the confidential client during the interview process.
