Overview
This Self-Perform Project Engineer role supports estimating and project execution for self-performed construction scopes for our confidential client. You will assist with takeoffs, document review, vendor coordination, and project tracking while developing a strong understanding of construction systems, specifications, and estimating processes. The role provides hands-on exposure to both preconstruction and field operations and supports successful project delivery in alignment with company standards and procedures.
- Salary: $76,000 - $88,000 per year (estimated)
What You’ll Do
- Support takeoffs and quantity verification for self-perform scopes using On-Screen Takeoff / Togal and related tools
- Create and organize project folders, upload plans, and maintain document control per SOPs
- Review contract documents, drawings, details, and specifications to identify scope and installation requirements
- Prepare small-scope proposals and assist in developing A&Qs for estimating teams
- Track project workload and status in QuickBase (or equivalent) to keep estimates and handoffs current
- Provide vendors and subcontractors with quantities and documentation to obtain competitive pricing
- Analyze addenda and document changes in estimating systems (Sage, OST, Togal, proposals)
- Assist estimators with handoff packages, submittal requirements, and review of shop drawings/submittals
- Attend trainings, shadow estimators, and spend time in the field to observe typical installations and installation sequences
Skills & Qualifications
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organization skills
- Basic understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and construction systems
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret technical information and identify inconsistencies
- Effective verbal and written communication; ability to coordinate with internal teams and external vendors
- Time management skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred; related internships or entry-level estimating/project experience a plus
- Willingness to learn estimating processes, field operations, and self-perform construction scopes
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
