What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level Security Operations Center (SOC) Analyst (L1) to join a SOC team supporting financial services operations. You will monitor, triage, and investigate security alerts across SIEM, EDR, email, cloud, and network security tools to detect and respond to potential incidents.
- Monitor security events and alerts from SIEM, EDR, email security, cloud security, and network platforms.
- Perform initial triage to determine legitimacy, severity, and potential business impact.
- Investigate suspicious activities and indicators of compromise (IOCs).
- Document findings and actions in the case management system according to SOC procedures.
- Escalate incidents to senior analysts and incident response teams when required.
- Participate in an on-call rotation and respond to incidents outside normal business hours as needed.
- Assist with containment and remediation activities under senior guidance.
- Preserve evidence and support post-incident documentation and lessons learned.
Key Responsibilities — Threat Intel, Tuning & Process
- Review threat intelligence reports and security advisories to identify potential impacts.
- Support threat-hunting and proactive monitoring initiatives.
- Contribute to alert tuning efforts to reduce false positives and improve detection fidelity.
- Maintain accurate case records and support SOC process improvement initiatives.
- Support audit and compliance-related requests tied to cybersecurity controls and SLAs.
Who You Are / Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent work experience; OR relevant internship experience.
- 0–2 years of experience in cybersecurity, IT operations, help desk, network administration, or related roles.
- Familiarity with SOC functions, incident response basics, and security monitoring concepts.
- Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail.
- Good written and verbal communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
- Must have the legal right to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
Technical Knowledge & Tools
Basic understanding of:
- Security Operations Center workflows and incident response fundamentals.
- Network fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, HTTP/S).
- Windows and Linux operating systems.
- Endpoint security concepts and identity/access management.
- Cloud security fundamentals (AWS and Microsoft 365 preferred).
Familiarity or exposure to these tools is a plus:
- CrowdStrike Falcon
- Microsoft Defender XDR
- Microsoft Sentinel or other SIEM platforms
- Email security solutions
- Vulnerability management and threat intelligence platforms
Nice-to-Have / Certifications
- CompTIA Security+
- CompTIA CySA+
- ISC2 Certified in Cybersecurity (CC)
- GIAC GFACT
- Microsoft Security Certifications
- AWS Cloud Practitioner

Candidates will be evaluated on measurable SOC KPIs such as:
- Alert triage and response time

- Completion of assigned training and development goals
Compensation & Employment Type
- Estimated salary: $65,300 per year (estimated)
- Employment type: Full-time / Contractor (as indicated)
