Role overview

Confidential Client is seeking a Security Operations Center Analyst (SOC) to join an IT-focused operations team supporting government customers. This full-time role, based in State Farm, VA, focuses on continuous security monitoring, incident detection/response, and log analysis using SIEM and related toolsets. The position requires active/eligible DoD Top Secret with SCI and DoD IAT Level II certification. Estimated pay: USD $52.29–$58.96 per hour.


Responsibilities

  • Monitor identified devices and applications using program dashboards and SIEM tools.
  • Perform event and incident management following established processes and procedures.
  • Detect, analyze, contain, eradicate, and help recover from security incidents.
  • Analyze network events across program networks and report outages or incidents per guidelines.
  • Use security and operational analytics tools for log collection, analysis, and alerting.
  • Conduct backup and recovery tasks as needed.
  • Provide basic mobile device support (e.g., activate/deactivate SIMs) when required.
  • Execute additional tasks as directed by the NOSC Lead and other stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree OR an Associate’s degree plus 2+ years relevant experience; OR High school diploma/GED with 4+ years relevant experience.
  • Minimum 2+ years relevant SOC or cybersecurity operations experience.
  • DoD IAT Level II certification required.
  • DoD Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility required.
  • Must successfully pass background checks and drug screening.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. and comply with any facility-specific requirements.

Knowledge, skills & abilities

  • Hands-on experience with security tooling such as FireEye, Wireshark, NetWitness, Palo Alto, Cisco ASA, F5, tcpdump, Snort, Splunk, EMET, Bit9/Carbon Black, StealthWatch, IronPort, McAfee ePO, Microsoft Defender, XSOAR, Nessus, ExtraHop, OpenText NDR.
  • Familiarity with SIEM monitoring, log collection, and alert tuning.
  • Experience operating in a 24/7 NOSC/SOC environment supporting commercial or government customers.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills for network and security events.
  • Clear communication skills for incident reporting and stakeholder coordination.
