Position Overview
Confidential Client is hiring a Security Operations Center Analyst I (SOC) to join a mission-focused IT team supporting national-security and government customers. This is a full-time, hands-on SOC role in State Farm, VA, focused on monitoring, detecting, and responding to security events using SIEM and other security tooling. The position requires DoD IAT Level II certification and an active DoD Secret clearance (with ability to obtain TS/SCI).
Responsibilities
- Monitor devices and applications across program networks using provided dashboards
- Perform event and incident management following established processes and runbooks
- Detect, analyze, and respond to security incidents; coordinate containment, eradication, and recovery with stakeholders
- Perform log collection, analysis, and alert triage using SIEM and analytics tools
- Analyze network events and report outages or incidents per guidelines
- Conduct backup and recovery procedures as needed
- Provide mobile phone support, including SIM activation/deactivation
- Perform additional tasks as directed by the NOSC Lead
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree OR an associate degree plus 2+ years of relevant experience OR high school diploma/GED with 4+ years of relevant experience
- Minimum 2 years of relevant SOC/incident monitoring experience
- DoD IAT Level II Certification (required)
- Active DoD Secret clearance required; ability to obtain DoD TS/SCI
- Ability to pass background and drug screening
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a 24/7 NOSC/SOC environment supporting government or commercial clients
- Prior experience with investigative workflows, incident coordination, and escalation procedures
Knowledge, Skills & Tools
- Experience with security tooling such as FireEye, Wireshark, NetWitness, Palo Alto, Cisco ASA, F5, tcpdump, Snort, Splunk, Carbon Black/EDR, StealthWatch, IronPort, McAfee ePO, Microsoft Defender, XSOAR, Nessus, ExtraHop, OpenText NDR
- Strong familiarity with SIEM-based monitoring, log collection, alert tuning, and operational analytics
- Understanding of cyber threat capabilities and defensive technical controls
- Knowledge of network operating systems, SLOs, and service management in SOC/NOSC environments
- Strong written and verbal communication for incident reports and coordination

Compensation
