Role Overview
Confidential Client is seeking an entry-level Security Analyst (W2 only) for a 12+ month engagement in Cayce, SC. This is a hands-on, early-career security role focused on monitoring and responding to security alerts, supporting endpoint protection, and assisting with vulnerability and cloud security tasks. Ideal for candidates with basic IT or networking knowledge looking to grow in cybersecurity.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor SIEM alerts and security telemetry; perform initial triage.
- Investigate and escalate incidents using established playbooks.
- Support endpoint security operations (detection, response, updates).
- Assist with vulnerability scanning and basic remediation tracking.
- Help maintain and apply Group Policy and endpoint management tasks.
- Use PowerShell for routine automation and investigative tasks.
- Communicate findings and status clearly to engineering and operations teams.
- Contribute to documentation, runbooks, and process improvements.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required (some college preferred).
- Understanding of security concepts and common security processes.
- Basic computer and networking knowledge (TCP/IP, DNS, Windows OS fundamentals).
- Strong attention to detail and analytical/problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work as part of a mid-size team.
- Eligible to work as W2 (this position is W2 only).
Preferred (Nice-to-Have) Qualifications
- 1+ year experience in an IT or IT-security focused role (help desk, sysadmin, security analyst).
- Experience with SIEM tools and endpoint security platforms.
- Familiarity with PowerShell, Group Policy, and endpoint management tools.
- Knowledge of vulnerability management workflows and cloud security basics.
- 1+ years of server or network administration experience.
- Relevant certificates are a plus: Security+ (CompTIA), Network+ (CompTIA), GSEC, or GCIH.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field is helpful but not required.
Compensation & Logistics
- Estimated compensation: $144,751 per year (estimated).
- Employment type: Full-time, W2 only.
- Location: Cayce, SC (on-site or local to Cayce area as required).
- Duration: 12+ months (contract/engagement).
