Role Snapshot
Confidential Client is seeking an entry-level Security Analyst to join a public-sector IT security team on a 12‑month W2 contract (possible extension). This is a fully onsite position in Blythewood, SC.

- Location: Blythewood, SC (onsite only — no hybrid/remote flexibility)
- Estimated pay: $93,831 per year (estimated)
- Schedule: Weekend evening overnight shifts are required after training:
- Saturday & Sunday: 8:00 PM – 8:00 AM (2 × 12-hour shifts)
- Wednesday & Thursday: 8:30 AM – 2:45 PM
- Candidate must be willing to sign an NDA during the hiring process and complete pre-employment screening.
What You’ll Do
The Confidential Client’s security team will provide training and mentorship. Core responsibilities include:
- Monitor and research threat intelligence feeds and open-source intelligence (OSINT).
- Conduct proactive threat hunting and help create/refine detection rules (SIEM, EDR).
- Analyze logs from firewalls, endpoints, and servers to identify indicators of compromise.
- Assist with incident triage and response following established frameworks (e.g., NIST, MITRE ATT&CK).
- Document incident findings, prepare reports, and maintain process and runbook documentation.
- Participate in vulnerability management: analyze reports and prioritize patching aligned with best practices.
- Support security awareness initiatives, including simulations and training materials.
- Use and help automate endpoint management and patch deployment via SCCM, GPO, and PowerShell; develop additional automation where practical.
- Assist with endpoint and network security policy configuration and alert analysis.
- Support digital forensics tasks and expand cloud security knowledge as cloud services are adopted.
Interview & Pre-Employment Checks
- Interviews: 1–2 rounds (virtual or onsite). Candidates should be available for onsite interviews.
- Pre-employment checks (required): criminal background, credit check, and NDA signature prior to interview.
- Work authorization: candidates must be authorized to work in the United States.
Required Qualifications
- Understanding of security concepts and security processes.
- Basic computer and network administration knowledge (server or network fundamentals).
- Willingness to work mandatory weekend overnight shifts as described.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1+ years experience in server or network administration.
- 1+ years experience in an IT security-focused role.
- Familiarity with SIEM and endpoint security tools (log analysis, detection rules).
- Experience with PowerShell, Group Policy (GPO), and endpoint management tools (e.g., SCCM).
- Knowledge of vulnerability management and cloud security concepts.
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field (preferred).
- Relevant certifications are a plus: Security+ (CompTIA), Network+ (CompTIA), GSEC, GCIH.

- Clear written and verbal communication; ability to work effectively in a mid-sized team.
