Overview

Confidential Client is seeking an entry-level Security Analyst to join their security team and help enhance the security posture that protects sensitive citizen data and critical motor-vehicle licensing and titling systems. This is a long-term, onsite contract role based in Blythewood, SC. The client will provide training for the selected candidate; we expect candidates to bring basic server or network administration skills that can be expanded into cybersecurity responsibilities.


What You’ll Do

  • Monitor and analyze threat intelligence feeds to identify emerging threats and relevant indicators.
  • Perform proactive threat hunting and create/refine detection rules (SIEM queries, endpoint rules).
  • Review and interpret logs from firewalls, endpoints, and servers to identify indicators of compromise (IOCs).
  • Assist in initial incident triage following established frameworks (e.g., NIST, MITRE).
  • Gather and document evidence during incidents; escalate findings to senior analysts.
  • Create clear incident reports, after-action reviews, and documentation to support continuous improvement.
  • Support vulnerability management by analyzing reports and prioritizing remediation tasks in line with NIST best practices.
  • Develop and deliver security awareness training and run simulations to assess employee readiness.
  • Use SCCM, Group Policy, and PowerShell for patch deployment and basic automation; propose automation beyond these tools to improve efficiency.
  • Configure endpoint protection, analyze alerts, and help strengthen network security controls.
  • Assist with digital forensics activities and build knowledge of cloud-specific security controls as cloud usage grows.

Required Skills

  • Understanding of security concepts and processes (detection, response, vulnerability management).
  • Basic computer and network administration knowledge (servers, routing, common protocols).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively in a mid-size team.
  • Willingness to learn and complete training provided by the client.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1+ year experience in an IT security–focused role or related IT administration.
  • Experience with SIEM and endpoint security tools.
  • Experience with PowerShell, Group Policy (GPO), and endpoint management tools (SCCM).
  • Knowledge of vulnerability management processes and cloud security fundamentals.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field (preferred).
  • 1+ years of server or network administration experience.

Education & Certifications

  • Minimum: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred certifications (not required): GIAC Security Essentials (GSEC), CompTIA Security+, CompTIA Network+, GIAC Incident Handler (GCIH).

  • Interviewer: Security Team Manager (client).
  • Format: In-person.
  • Rounds: Typically up to 2 rounds.
  • Availability: Interviews can be scheduled ASAP.

Compensation & Employment Type

  • Employment Type: Full-time (long-term contract).
  • Estimated pay (as listed in source): $109,703 per year (estimated). This role is hourly/contract pay; exact rate will be provided by the client.
