What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level, onsite Security Analyst to join their IT security team in Blythewood, SC. This role includes structured training and hands-on tasks that build core security skills across threat intelligence, detection, and incident response.

  • Monitor and analyze threat intelligence feeds and OSINT sources to identify emerging threats relevant to the environment.
  • Conduct proactive threat-hunting searches across network and endpoint telemetry using supplied playbooks and tools.
  • Review logs from firewalls, endpoints, and servers to identify indicators of compromise (IOCs) and escalate suspicious findings.
  • Assist with initial incident triage and evidence collection following standard frameworks (e.g., NIST, MITRE ATT&CK).
  • Collaborate with senior analysts to refine and test detection rules (SIEM queries, Defender for Endpoint rules).
  • Support vulnerability management by analyzing reports, prioritizing patching, and following NIST best practices.
  • Help develop and deliver security awareness materials and run simple phishing or awareness simulations.
  • Use SCCM, Group Policy, and PowerShell to assist with patch deployment and basic automation tasks.
  • Document findings, produce incident reports and after-action reviews, and keep operational documentation current.

Required Skills

  • Understanding of fundamental security concepts and processes (confidentiality, integrity, availability; IOCs; basic triage).
  • Understanding of basic computer and network concepts (TCP/IP, common ports, OS fundamentals).

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1+ year experience in server or network administration.
  • 1+ year experience in an IT security-focused role (SOC, monitoring, or related).
  • Familiarity with SIEM tools and endpoint security solutions.
  • Experience with PowerShell, Group Policy (GPO), and endpoint management tools (SCCM/intune-like).
  • Basic knowledge of vulnerability management and cloud security concepts.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field (preferred, not required).

Education & Certifications

  • Minimum: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certifications prioritized (not required): GIAC GSEC, CompTIA Security+, CompTIA Network+, GIAC GCIH.

Location, Hours & Compensation

  • Onsite role located in Blythewood, SC. This is a full-time position (12+ month duration / ongoing engagement).
  • Estimated compensation (from source data): $91,416 per year (estimated).
  • This position requires reliable on-site attendance and ability to work standard business hours; occasional off-hours incident work may be required.
