What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level Security Analyst to join a DMV security team supporting onsite operations in Cayce, SC. This is a fully onsite role; the selected candidate will receive hands-on training and will perform monitoring, detection, and initial response tasks under senior analyst guidance.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Monitor and analyze threat intelligence feeds to identify emerging risks.
  • Perform threat hunting and help create detection rules (SIEM queries, Defender for Endpoint rules).
  • Review logs from firewalls, endpoints, and servers to identify indicators of compromise and escalate as needed.
  • Assist in initial incident triage and follow response frameworks (e.g., NIST, MITRE ATT&CK).
  • Document incidents, produce clear reports (incident reports and after-action reviews), and update internal runbooks and playbooks.
  • Support vulnerability management activities by analyzing reports and helping prioritize remediation.
  • Develop and deliver security awareness training and training materials.
  • Use endpoint and network management tools (SCCM, GPO) and PowerShell to assist patching and basic automation tasks.
  • Participate in required weekend evening and overnight shifts as part of the regular schedule.

Qualifications — Required

To be considered, candidates must meet these minimum requirements:

  • Must be a CURRENT South Carolina resident; relocation is not permitted.
  • Willingness to work fully onsite in Cayce, SC and to participate in scheduled weekend evening/night shifts.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Basic understanding of security concepts and processes.
  • Basic computer and network administration knowledge (server or network admin fundamentals).
  • Willingness to sign an NDA if selected for interview or employment.
  • Availability for the stated schedule (see Schedule & Location below).

Preferred Qualifications

The following will make candidates more competitive:

  • 1+ year in an IT security–focused role or 1+ year server/network administration experience.
  • Experience using SIEM and endpoint security tools.
  • Familiarity with PowerShell, Group Policy (GPO), and endpoint management tools (e.g., SCCM).
  • Knowledge of vulnerability management practices and cloud security fundamentals.
  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field.
  • Certifications such as GIAC Security Essentials (GSEC), CompTIA Security+, or CompTIA Network+.

Schedule & Location

  • Work location: Fully onsite in Cayce, SC. No remote or hybrid option.
  • Residency requirement: Candidate must be a current South Carolina resident.
  • Contract duration: 12 months with possible extension.
  • Shift details (typical after training): Saturday and Sunday evening coverage likely 8:00 PM–8:00 AM (two 12‑hour shifts); dayshifts Wednesday and Thursday 8:30 AM–2:45 PM.
  • Candidates must be available for onsite interviews.

Compensation & Employment Type
