What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level Security Analyst to join an onsite IT security team in Blythewood, SC. You will be trained and expected to support threat detection, incident response, log analysis, and basic security operations. This position requires weekend evening availability and a customer-first, detail-oriented approach.

  • Monitor threat intelligence feeds and use OSINT to track emerging threats.
  • Perform threat hunting and help create and test detection rules (SIEM/endpoint rules).
  • Review logs from firewalls, servers, and endpoints to identify indicators of compromise (IOCs).
  • Assist with initial incident triage and escalate issues to senior analysts following established frameworks (e.g., NIST, MITRE ATT&CK).
  • Help document incidents, produce clear incident and after-action reports, and maintain security playbooks.
  • Support vulnerability management activities and patch prioritization.
  • Contribute to security awareness training and phishing simulations.
  • Use SCCM, GPO, PowerShell and automation to support endpoint management and patch deployment.
  • Support endpoint and network security policy configuration and alert analysis.
  • Assist with digital forensics tasks and learn cloud-specific security controls as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required).
  • Understanding of security concepts and security processes.
  • Basic computer and networking knowledge.
  • Willingness and ability to work fully onsite in Blythewood, SC — candidate must be a current South Carolina resident (no relocation).
  • Availability for scheduled weekend evening coverage (likely two 12-hour overnight shifts, plus some day shifts).
  • Willingness to sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) for interview and onboarding.
  • Ability to pass required pre-employment checks (see next section).

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1+ year of server or network administration experience.
  • 1+ year in an IT security-focused role or internship.
  • Experience with SIEM platforms and endpoint security tools.
  • Experience using PowerShell, Group Policy, and SCCM or other endpoint management tools.
  • Familiarity with vulnerability management and cloud security fundamentals.
  • Bachelor’s in IT, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field (preferred).
  • Security certifications are a plus: Security+ (CompTIA), Network+ (CompTIA), GSEC, GCIH.

Schedule & Location

  • Work location: Fully onsite in Blythewood, SC (no hybrid/remote option).
  • Shift requirements: Weekend evening coverage likely 8:00 PM–8:00 AM (two 12-hour shifts). Day shifts may include Wednesday and Thursday 8:30 AM–2:45 PM.
  • Candidate must be a current resident of South Carolina. This role does not support relocation.

Compensation & Employment Type

  • Estimated pay (from source): $116,821 per year — estimate only.
  • Employment type: Full-time. Contract duration: 12 months + (as noted by the client).
  • Exact compensation and benefits will be provided by Confidential Client during the hiring process.

  • Additional screening may be required per Confidential Client policy.

Skills & Tools

  • SIEM query creation and tuning (preferred).
  • Endpoint security tools and alert triage.
  • PowerShell scripting, SCCM, Group Policy for patching and automation.
  • Basic log analysis and familiarity with network protocols/firewall logs.
  • Problem-solving, attention to detail, and clear written/verbal communication.
