What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level Backend Engineer / Analyst to join their Service Delivery Center in Five Points, NC. You will work on server-side services, APIs, and data integrations that support financial-services clients. This is a hands-on role where you'll contribute across the delivery lifecycle—design, build/configuration, testing, delivery and support—while learning from experienced engineers.

  • Contribute to design and development of Java-based backend services using Spring / Spring Boot
  • Implement and consume RESTful and (occasionally) SOAP APIs
  • Work with relational and NoSQL databases; write and tune SQL queries and stored procedures
  • Participate in microservices design and integrate with messaging/event platforms (Kafka, JMS)
  • Develop and run unit tests; follow CI/CD, Git, and automated build practices
  • Support deployments, triage production issues, and participate in root-cause analysis
  • Follow code quality, security, testing and automation standards established by the team
  • Collaborate in Agile teams and communicate effectively with technical and business stakeholders
  • Travel up to 30% as needed to support clients and project delivery

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience
  • At least 1 year of relevant experience in enterprise application development (entry-level to early-career)
  • Exposure to Java, Spring, and Spring Boot; solid object-oriented programming fundamentals
  • Foundational experience building or consuming RESTful APIs; familiar with JSON and XML
  • Experience with SQL and at least one relational database (SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, etc.)
  • Familiarity with version control (Git), basic CI/CD concepts, and unit testing
  • Comfortable working in Agile environments and collaborating across distributed teams
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 30% of the time

Preferred (Nice-to-Have) Skills

  • Microservices architecture experience and familiarity with event-driven patterns
  • Experience with messaging/event streaming platforms (Kafka, JMS, RabbitMQ)
  • Exposure to NoSQL databases and ORMs (JPA, Hibernate)
  • Containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure)
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tooling (Jenkins), automated testing frameworks (JUnit, Mockito)
  • Hands-on experience with production troubleshooting and cloud deployments

Role Details & Compensation

  • Location: Five Points, NC (on-site / Service Delivery Center)
  • Employment type: Full-time

  • Travel: Up to 30% required
  • Salary range (for this posting): $55,400 — $113,000 per year (applies to "All other U.S. offices" band, including this location). Actual pay will be based on experience, skills, and location within the stated range.
