Position Overview
Confidential Client is seeking an entry-level Scientist, Clinical Services (Veterinary Associate background) to join the Laboratory Animal Science team in West Point, PA. This on-site role supports in vivo discovery research and requires weekend coverage on either a Saturday–Wednesday or Wednesday–Sunday rotation. The position involves hands-on study support, veterinary care for large and small animals, and close collaboration with veterinarians, research staff, and cross-functional teams.
What You’ll Do
- Carry out study support procedures and medical treatment regimens for research animals under veterinarian and research staff guidance.
- Triage weekend emergencies and provide treatment per veterinarian direction.
- Assist with or perform aseptic surgical procedures, suturing, and peri-/post-operative care.
- Perform diagnostic radiography, specific imaging techniques, and routine clinical pathology procedures.
- Administer injectable and inhalation anesthetics under veterinary supervision.
- Maintain accurate and timely records of treatments, procedures, inventories, study data, protocols, and reports.
- Collaborate with principal investigators, veterinarians, veterinary technicians, IACUC members, facility managers, and animal care technicians.
- Help recognize operational, technical, or scientific study hurdles and contribute solutions under supervision.
- Manage study timelines and ensure accuracy of study data in corporate databases and project tracking tools.
- Comply with applicable animal welfare, regulatory, and institutional policies (e.g., Animal Welfare Act, The Guide, FDA requirements, 3R principles).
- Promote and uphold a respectful, fair, and inclusive laboratory culture.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant biological or veterinary-related field.
- Animal handling and dosing experience.
- Veterinary Technician certification preferred but not required.
- Experience with ocular research techniques and imaging equipment is a plus.
- Strong technical and scientific aptitude with a willingness to learn the R&D process.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and written/verbal communication skills.
- Proactive, solution-oriented mindset and ability to work both independently and in cross-functional teams.
- Commitment to high safety and regulatory standards.

Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $87,300.00 - $137,400.00 per year (the posted range reflects the lowest to highest in good faith at time of posting; final placement depends on experience, qualifications, and location).
- Eligible for annual bonus and long-term incentive if applicable.
