Role overview
Confidential Client (via Careertakes) is hiring an entry-level Scientist I to support reagent and assay development within their Scientific & QA organization. This laboratory role contributes to the development, optimization, characterization, and lifecycle support of immunohematology reagents and in‑vitro diagnostic (IVD) assays. The role reports to R&D scientists and works collaboratively across Quality, Regulatory, and Manufacturing teams.
Key responsibilities
- Perform laboratory experiments and routine testing to support immunohematology reagent and assay development using established methods and procedures.
- Prepare reagents, samples, and experimental materials following SOPs and safety guidelines.
- Collect, record, organize, and maintain accurate experimental data, lab notebooks, and study records.
- Assist with reagent characterization, assay optimization, stability studies, and verification/validation activities.
- Analyze basic experimental results, document observations, and communicate findings to project team members.
- Troubleshoot routine lab and technical issues and escalate unexpected or complex problems to senior staff.
- Follow established quality systems, laboratory procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Participate in cross-functional activities and contribute to project objectives as assigned.
Minimum qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific discipline with approximately 0–3 years of related laboratory experience; OR Master’s degree with relevant experience; OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Relevant experience in laboratory, immunohematology, immunoassay, transfusion medicine, or IVD settings is desirable.
- Management may, at their discretion, substitute relevant work experience for degree requirements.
Skills & capabilities
- Fundamental understanding of scientific principles and laboratory best practices.
- Interest in building technical expertise in immunohematology and IVD reagent/assay development.
- Ability to perform lab procedures accurately, reproducibly, and safely.
- Basic data analysis and interpretation skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate documentation.
- Effective written and oral communication; ability to collaborate with scientists and cross‑functional teams.
- Good organizational skills and eagerness to learn new techniques and technologies.
Location & travel
- Location: Norcross, GA (on-site work expected)
- Approximately 10% travel may be required.
