What You’ll Do

The Confidential Client is hiring an early-career Data Analyst to support health data research and large-scale administrative datasets. You will work closely with researchers, statisticians, and data scientists to prepare, validate, and deliver harmonized data products used for analyses and reporting.

  • Develop, maintain, and run SAS programs (including macros) to import, clean, standardize, transform, and validate hospital discharge and other administrative data.
  • Build and run data quality checks and validation routines; investigate, document, and resolve data issues.
  • Harmonize datasets across sources and prepare packaged files for delivery to internal teams or external partners.
  • Create and maintain data documentation, metadata, and data dictionaries to support reproducible research.
  • Produce basic analytic summaries, tables, charts, and written descriptions for reports and presentations.
  • Support enhancements to existing applications and databases used for research workflows.
  • Use R or Python for supplemental tasks when needed and apply AI tools to improve efficiency.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, collaborating within a multidisciplinary research team.

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in quantitative social sciences, public health, statistics, biostatistics, health informatics, math, data science, computer science, or a related field.
  • 0–2 years of relevant experience (including internships) working with large datasets and analytic/statistical programming.
  • Proficiency in SAS is required; experience developing and using SAS macros is expected.
  • Prior exposure to healthcare or administrative claims data is preferred.
  • Familiarity with R or Python is a plus but not required.
  • Strong quantitative, problem-solving, and critical-reasoning skills.
  • Excellent organization, documentation, and written/verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office tools.
  • Eligible to work in the U.S.; our client is unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: $62,000 – $77,000 per year.

  • The listed range reflects the client’s good-faith estimate at posting; actual pay will depend on experience, qualifications, and other factors.

Work Location & Schedule

  • This role is hybrid and will be based in Johnson City, TN (office-based requirement: minimum six days per month onsite). Exceptional remote candidates may be considered.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.
