Overview
Confidential Client is hiring an early-career SAS Data Analyst (Level I or II) to join a Health Data Research team focused on processing hospital discharge and administrative claims data, harmonizing multi-state datasets, and preparing analytic-ready files. This role emphasizes strong SAS skills, attention to documentation, and teamwork in support of reproducible health data research.
What You’ll Do
Confidential Client’s Data Analysts support data processing, quality assurance, analysis, and delivery. Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Import, clean, standardize, transform, and validate large health-related datasets (e.g., hospital discharge, administrative claims).
- Develop and maintain SAS programs and macros for data cleaning, integration, transformation, and harmonization.
- Implement data quality checks and validation procedures; investigate and document data issues.
- Produce data documentation, metadata, and data dictionaries for delivered files.
- Prepare basic analytic summaries, tables, charts, and presentations for team and stakeholders.
- Support and enhance existing applications and databases used for research data management.
- Collaborate with researchers, statisticians, data scientists, and subject matter experts to support project goals.
- Apply AI tools where appropriate to improve efficiency and reproducibility.
- Perform other duties as assigned in a collaborative team environment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative social science, public health, statistics, biostatistics, health informatics, math, data science, computer science, or related field.
- 0–2 years of experience (including internships) working with large datasets and analytic/statistical programming.
- Proficient coding skills in SAS, including experience writing and maintaining SAS macros.
- Strong foundation in statistics, quantitative analysis, and problem solving.
- Experience with data management and processing best practices.
- Excellent documentation, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Eligible to work in the U.S.; Confidential Client is not able to sponsor visas for this role.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience working with healthcare or administrative claims data.
- Familiarity with R or Python (welcome but not required).
- Background creating reproducible data pipelines and metadata for research data.
Work Model & Location
- Hybrid role based in Chicago (Confidential Client’s Chicago office) with a minimum in-office requirement (typically at least six days per month). Exceptional remote candidates may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
- Regular, full-time position.
Salary & Benefits
- Salary range: $62,000 – $77,000 per year.
