Position overview
Confidential Client is hiring a SALT (State and Local Tax) Staff member to join a growing tax practice in Southfield, MI. This is a full-time, exempt role focused on tax compliance, research, and client-focused planning across partnerships, S corporations, and individuals — with exposure to private equity and entity-structure issues.
What you’ll do
- Participate in client engagements from planning through completion, including tax project execution and deliverables
- Prepare and/or review tax returns for partnerships, S corporations, and individual clients
- Perform tax research and draft client memoranda and recommendations
- Develop client-focused tax planning and transaction-structuring concepts
- Support relationship-building activities and participate in business development and networking
- Optionally participate in campus recruiting, internal learning & development committees, and other firm leadership initiatives
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- 1+ years of recent experience in public accounting (tax focus preferred)
- CPA or Bar license required
- Strong technical tax skills, especially with private equity, partnerships, and/or LLC taxation
- Ability to travel locally or nationally as required (currently no firm travel expected)
- Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship (exceptions for specific bilingual hires may apply)
Compensation & work model
- Base salary range (posted): $74,000 – $83,000 (ranges provided reflect variance across certain regions)
- This is an exempt position; work hours may exceed a standard 40-hour week at times
- Confidental Client follows a primarily in-person model with flexible arrangements based on team and manager agreement
