Position overview

Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level Sales & Distribution Trainee to start in our distribution center in Tarrant, AL (35217). This is a hands-on role designed to teach you the operational side of industrial distribution (products such as pipe, valves, fittings and commercial plumbing materials), logistics and order flow before transitioning into a sales position (Inside Sales or Counter Sales).

What You’ll Do (Sales Trainee)

• Gain operational knowledge of pipe, valves, fittings (PVF) and commercial plumbing products to support customer needs.
• Develop and maintain professional customer and vendor relationships.
• Prepare accurate product quotations including specs, lead times, pricing, tagging/packaging, inventory status and logistics.
• Process incoming orders via eCommerce, phone, email and in-person.
• Respond promptly and accurately to customer calls and emails; support project quotations.
• Coordinate with vendors and manufacturer reps to streamline order processing.
• Use and learn updates for CRM and other internal software tools.
• Learn product lines and active marketing programs to advise customers effectively.

What You’ll Do (Distribution Trainee)

• Monitor the order queue to track status and ensure order accuracy and timely fulfillment.
• Prioritize and handle expedited orders when required.
• Process returns paperwork and issue customer credits per company policy.
• Operate warehouse equipment (forklift, scissor lift, pallet jacks) to pick and prepare shipments.
• Participate in inventory counts and basic warehouse housekeeping.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (candidates graduating August or December 2026 will be considered).
• Strong customer service orientation and communication skills (verbal and written).
• Comfortable working in a warehouse/distribution environment.
• Highly organized with keen attention to detail.
• Able to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
• Able to work independently and collaborate as part of a team.
• Willingness to obtain/maintain any site-required certifications (e.g., forklift) as assigned.
