What You’ll Do

This is an outside/territory sales role serving customers in the Fort Dodge, Humboldt and Eagle Grove, IA areas. You will promote the client’s products and services, build strong relationships with new and existing accounts, and help customers succeed while meeting sales and profit goals.

  • Develop new business, penetrate existing accounts, and minimize lost business to achieve profitable sales growth within an assigned territory.
  • Prospect, qualify leads and manage accounts in line with territory stratification.
  • Research customer needs and recommend product and service mixes that drive customer success.
  • Track market trends and competitor activity; recommend solutions that add value to customers.
  • Answer product and pricing questions, provide product demonstrations and train customer staff as needed.
  • Coordinate with internal teams (credit, transportation, customer service) to resolve order issues and ensure on-time service.
  • Manage administrative tasks including sales reports, quotes, menu suggestions, credits and order follow-up.
  • Attend sales meetings, customer events and ongoing training; assist in onboarding new sales staff when requested.
  • Drive a personal vehicle to customer accounts, conventions and meetings as required.

Qualifications

Required (one of the following):

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, Hospitality, Culinary Arts or related field
    OR
  • High school diploma/GED plus 3 years of restaurant management, B2B or outside sales experience (or equivalent related experience, including completion of a relevant sales internship).

Preferred:

  • Bilingual candidates encouraged.
  • Background in restaurant management, foodservice outside sales or culinary roles (chef) is a plus.

Certificates / licensing / requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license and automobile insurance that meets company insurability standards:
    • Bodily injury — $100,000 each person / $300,000 each accident
    • Property damage — $100,000
  • Must pass employment testing and sign the required protective covenants agreement.
  • Reside in — or be willing to relocate to — the geographic vicinity of the assigned territory.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English; basic PC skills and MS Office proficiency.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Estimated pay: $43,236 per year (estimated).

Territory & Schedule

  • Territory: Fort Dodge, Humboldt, Eagle Grove (Humboldt, IA region).
  • May require non-traditional hours including evenings, weekends and holidays to meet customer needs.
  • Regular in-person customer visits and local travel within the assigned territory.
