What You’ll Do

This outside sales role focuses on building and growing customer relationships in an assigned territory to help customers succeed while meeting sales and profitability goals.

  • Develop new business and penetrate existing accounts to achieve profitable sales growth.
  • Prospect, qualify, and prioritize leads following account stratification goals.
  • Research customer needs and recommend products and services that meet those needs.
  • Present product recommendations, menu suggestions, and sales quotes; answer product, price, and availability questions.
  • Provide product training and practical demonstrations to customer personnel.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and product innovations to advise customers.
  • Drive to customer accounts, conventions, and company meetings as required.
  • Manage collections and work with credit teams to resolve receivables.
  • Coordinate with transportation/logistics to manage order/delivery issues and special orders.
  • Participate in sales meetings, promotions, customer events, and ongoing training.
  • Maintain accurate sales records, prepare budgets/reports, and assist with administrative sales tasks.
  • Support and train new employees when requested.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, Hospitality, Culinary Arts or related discipline OR
  • High school diploma/GED plus 3 years of restaurant management, B2B/outside sales experience, or equivalent experience (including completion of the Confidential Client Sales Internship).

Certificates / Licensing:

  • Valid driver’s license with an insurable driving record.
  • Current automobile insurance meeting these limits: Bodily injury — $100,000 each person / $300,000 each accident; Property damage — $100,000.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual candidates strongly encouraged.
  • Background in restaurant management, foodservice outside sales, or chef experience preferred.

Requirements

  • Pass employment testing.
  • Must sign Confidential Client’s protective covenants agreement.
  • Reside in, or be willing to relocate to, the geographical vicinity of the assigned territory.

Professional Skills & Competencies

  • Basic PC skills and proficiency with MS Office.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English (bilingual preferred).
  • Strong sales ability, follow-up, and persuasiveness.
  • Building trust and customer loyalty.
  • Effective communication, adaptability, and ability to manage work and priorities.

Compensation

  • Estimated pay: $97,779 per year (estimated). Compensation also includes bonus potential, car allowance or mileage reimbursement (for CA candidates), and benefits described above.
