Role Overview
Confidential Client is hiring an Outside Sales Representative to manage a sales territory in the Altamont, CA area. This outside-sales role focuses on building relationships with new and existing foodservice accounts, driving profitable sales growth, and supporting customers with product knowledge and training.
Compensation & Location
Confidential Client estimates total pay at:
- Estimated base: $73,799 per year (estimated)
Work territory: Altamont, CA (you must live within approximately 1 hour of the territory, including traffic, or be willing to relocate at your own expense).

Job Summary
This is an outside sales position responsible for promoting Confidential Client’s products and services, developing new business, and maintaining relationships with existing accounts. The role requires meeting sales and profit goals, providing customers with product information and training, and occasionally working non-traditional hours (evenings, weekends, holidays) as customer needs require.
Responsibilities
- Develop new business and penetrate existing accounts to achieve profitable sales growth within the assigned territory
- Seek and qualify prospects in alignment with account segmentation strategies
- Research customer needs and recommend a product/service mix that supports their goals
- Monitor market trends and competitor activity; recommend products based on customer needs
- Answer customer questions about product availability, pricing and product use
- Provide product demonstrations and practical training to customer staff
- Drive personal vehicle to customer accounts, meetings and events (mileage reimbursement applies where noted)
- Work with credit/finance teams to communicate and collect accounts receivable when necessary
- Support delivery schedules and troubleshoot order issues (stock, special orders, inventory)
- Participate in company promotions, customer visits and sales meetings
- Maintain sales reports, prepare quotes and menu suggestions, and perform related administrative duties
- Assist with training new employees and participate in ongoing training programs
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, Hospitality, Culinary Arts or related field OR HSD/GED plus 3 years’ experience in restaurant management, B2B/outside sales, or equivalent relatable experience
- Valid driver’s license and automobile insurance that meets the company’s minimum insurability limits
- Ability to read, write and speak English (additional languages a plus)
- Basic PC skills and proficiency with MS Office
Preferred Qualifications
- Bi-lingual candidates preferred
- Background in restaurant management, foodservice outside sales, or culinary/chef roles preferred
Requirements & Conditions
- Pass employment testing as required
- Sign a standard protective covenants agreement as a condition of employment
- Reside in—or be willing to relocate to—the geographical vicinity of the territory before hire (relocation is not approved/paid for this position)
