Position overview

Confidential Client, a wholesale intimate apparel and sleepwear partner to well-known retail brands, is looking for a Sales & Merchandising Assistant to support sales, merchandising, order management, and customer accounts. This hands-on role works with Sales Executives, Senior Merchandisers, and cross-functional teams to support retail partners, prepare materials for Market Weeks and meetings, manage orders and inventory details, and coordinate samples.


Essential responsibilities

  • Support Sales Executives with preparation for in-person and virtual customer meetings, Market Weeks, stock meetings, and presentations.
  • Prepare inventory reports, CADs, selling materials, and buyer-facing information.
  • Review sales and inventory reports to identify best/worst sellers and share insights with Sales, Design, and internal teams.
  • Reconcile purchase orders with worksheets and available inventory; identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Enter and maintain buyer worksheets; place merchandise holds and update domestic and direct orders.
  • Assist with order management tasks (shortages, extensions, delivery changes, P.O. move-ups, late deliveries).
  • Investigate inventory and order issues, recommend solutions, and communicate updates to internal and external partners.
  • Coordinate, pack, ship, and track samples and CADs for buyers; update stakeholders on shipment status.
  • Maintain organized sample closets and assist with showroom setup (samples, swatches, meeting materials).
  • Attend and document customer, stock, and private-label development meetings; capture feedback and follow-ups.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Sales, Design, Production, and other teams to support customer needs and business priorities.

Qualifications

  • Minimum: one related internship or comparable experience, preferably in wholesale, retail, fashion, or apparel.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail.
  • Solid analytical ability and working knowledge of retail math.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (particularly Excel and Outlook).
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and able to take initiative and follow through.
  • Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively across departments and with external partners.

Compensation & benefits

  • Salary range: $52,000 — $56,000 per year.
  • Benefits package typically includes medical, dental, and vision; commuter and flexible spending accounts; paid time off and company holidays; 401(k); gym discount, and more.
  • Note: the actual salary offered will depend on experience and business needs.

Location & schedule

  • Work location: Manhattan, NY (in-office; will support in-person Market Weeks and buyer meetings).
  • Employment type: Full-time.
