Role overview

Confidential Client, a company in the Sales industry, is seeking an entry-level Sales Development Representative to support territory coverage across central Delaware. This role is telecommute-enabled but requires regular travel to cover accounts and routes in the Middletown / Dover / Smyrna area. The position is full-time and focused on maximizing supplier-brand sales through merchandising, account servicing, and targeted in-market selling.


What You’ll Do

  • Call on accounts and cover daily routes by creating an efficient routing pattern.
  • Prepare and deliver professional sales presentations that balance the client’s priorities with customer needs, including displays, new products, cold box, shelf/back bar placements, resets, drink and wine lists, and promotions.
  • Maintain product levels in accounts by taking inventory and restocking shelves where legally allowed.
  • Ensure strong brand visibility using point-of-sale materials as appropriate.
  • Collect payments or otherwise manage account remittances where permitted.
  • Conduct educational staff training seminars on brands offered by the client.
  • Service accounts by delivering products in extenuating circumstances, handling customer issues, and escalating when appropriate.
  • Strategize to achieve distribution, volume, and activity goals by reviewing pricing and product programming and keeping accurate account purchase history.
  • Complete required surveys and national-account compliance tasks where applicable.
  • Manage receivables by processing credits/returns and communicating about aged balances.
  • Attend and participate in weekly sales meetings; perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and/or equivalent training or work experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of sales experience.
  • Basic PC skills, including MS Office and presentation software.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, diplomacy, and customer-service skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, work independently or in a team, meet deadlines, and pay attention to detail.
  • Analytical and reporting skills; sound judgment and problem-solving.
  • Valid driver’s license required and willingness to travel within the territory.

Preferred

  • Ability to obtain and hold a Solicitor’s Permit.
  • Understanding of wine and spirits or related beverage knowledge.

Compensation & work details

  • Employment type: Full-time (Territory / field role; telecommute-enabled with regular in-market travel).
  • Base salary: $45,000 per year.
  • Additional: $3,000 annual car allowance.
  • Territory: Middle of Delaware (Middletown, Dover, Smyrna — local applicants encouraged).
  • This role may require lifting and carrying product and materials when supporting merchandising and deliveries.

Physical Requirements & Competencies

  • Regularly required to stand, sit, speak, hear, and use hands/fingers to operate a computer and phone.
  • Regularly required to reach overhead, squat, bend.
  • Carrying and lifting in the range of 45–65 pounds.
  • Accountable for results that impact the department.
  • Able to select the best option from defined procedures using common sense and past experience.
