Overview

Confidential Client is hiring a Sales Consultant to cover the Santa Ynez Valley territory, based in Vandenberg Air Force Base, CA. This outside sales role focuses on building relationships with restaurant and foodservice accounts, generating new business, and supporting customer success through product knowledge and value-added service.

  • Estimated pay: $65,618 per year (estimated)
  • NOTE (California): Mileage reimbursement/car allowance is provided for candidates in CA.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop new business and grow existing accounts to achieve profitable sales results across an assigned territory.
  • Qualify prospects according to account stratification targets and pursue appropriate sales opportunities.
  • Assess customer needs and recommend product and service mixes to improve customer operations and profitability.
  • Monitor market trends and competitor activity; share insights and recommendations with customers.
  • Provide product information and practical training to customer staff when needed.
  • Drive to customer accounts, trade shows, company meetings, and related events.
  • Manage account receivables in coordination with the credit department and collect balances per approved credit terms.
  • Coordinate with operations/transportation to manage order and delivery issues (e.g., stock-outs, special orders).
  • Participate in sales meetings, company promotions, and customer events.
  • Prepare sales reports, budgets, quotes, menu suggestions, and other administrative documentation.
  • Assist with onboarding and training of new sales employees when requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, Hospitality, Culinary Arts, or related discipline OR
  • High school diploma/GED plus 3 years’ experience in restaurant management, B2B/outside sales, or equivalent experience (including completion of a recognized sales internship).

Preferred

  • Bilingual candidates encouraged to apply.
  • Background in restaurant management, foodservice outside sales, or chef experience is a plus.

Certificates / Licenses

  • Valid driver’s license and driving record that meet company insurability standards.
  • Current automobile insurance meeting minimum limits: Bodily injury — $100,000 per person / $300,000 per accident; Property damage — $100,000.

Requirements

  • Must pass employment testing.
  • Must sign the client’s protective covenants/non-compete agreement as required.
  • Must reside in, or be willing to relocate to, the geographical vicinity of the assigned territory.

  • Strong sales ability and persuasiveness.
  • Proven follow-up and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to build trust and customer loyalty.
  • Strong communication skills and adaptability.
  • Basic PC skills and proficiency with MS Office.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Estimated base pay: $65,618 per year (estimated).
  • Competitive base salary plus bonus/incentive potential.

Working Conditions
