Overview

Confidential Client is hiring a Sales Consultant (outside sales) to cover the Baton Rouge, LA territory. This role focuses on building relationships with new and existing foodservice and restaurant accounts across the assigned territory. Travel within the territory is expected — up to 50%.

Job Summary

As a Sales Consultant you will promote products and services, develop new business, and support customers to achieve their operational goals while meeting sales and profitability targets. This outside sales role requires a customer-first mindset and the ability to work occasional non-traditional hours (evenings, weekends, holidays) as needed.


Responsibilities

  • Develop new business and penetrate existing accounts to achieve profitable sales growth in the assigned territory.
  • Qualify prospects and follow account segmentation/stratification goals.
  • Research customer needs and recommend product and service mixes to meet those needs.
  • Monitor market trends and recommend appropriate products and solutions to customers.
  • Provide product information and hands-on training to customer staff.
  • Answer customer questions about product availability, pricing, and usage.
  • Drive a personal vehicle to customer sites, conventions, and meetings as required.
  • Assist with accounts receivable collection when necessary and coordinate with credit teams.
  • Manage order and delivery issues, troubleshoot inventory or special-order problems.
  • Participate in sales meetings, promotional events, and company trainings.
  • Prepare sales reports, budgets, quotes, menu suggestions, and maintain sales records.
  • Support onboarding and training of new sales team members when requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Required: Bachelor's degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, Hospitality, Culinary Arts or related discipline — OR — High School Diploma/GED plus 3 years of restaurant management, B2B/outside sales experience, or equivalent experience (including completion of a sales internship).
  • Preferred: Restaurant management, foodservice outside sales, or chef experience.
  • Preferred: Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
  • Professional skills: Basic PC proficiency and MS Office; ability to read, write and speak English.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Reported base salary (from source): $100,000 per year.

Requirements & Logistics
