What You’ll Do

This is an outside sales role focused on building relationships with foodservice and restaurant customers in an assigned territory in San Francisco. You will promote products and services, drive new business, and support existing accounts to help customers succeed while meeting sales and profit goals set by our confidential client.

  • Develop new business and deepen relationships with existing accounts to achieve profitable sales growth.
  • Qualify and pursue prospects according to account stratification goals.
  • Research customer needs and recommend product and service mixes that meet those needs.
  • Track market trends and competitive activity; advise customers on product choices and usage.
  • Provide product training and value-added support to customer personnel.
  • Drive to customer accounts and represent the business at conventions, meetings and events.
  • Manage order/delivery issues, special orders, inventory concerns and assist with troubleshooting.
  • Work with credit/collections as needed to manage accounts receivable.
  • Prepare sales quotes, budgets, reports and maintain accurate sales records.
  • Attend sales and district meetings and participate in ongoing training.
  • Support company promotions, events and help train new hires when requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support territory goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, Hospitality, Culinary Arts or a related discipline OR HSD/GED plus 3 years of restaurant management, B2B or outside sales experience (or equivalent experience, including completion of a recognized sales internship).
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record that meets insurability standards.
  • Current automobile insurance meeting required limits (see Certificates & Licenses).
  • Comfortable driving to multiple customer locations during the day and occasionally working non-traditional hours (evenings, weekends, holidays).
  • Ability to read, write and speak English; bilingual candidates (Mandarin / Thai) are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Basic PC skills and proficiency with MS Office.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual in Mandarin and/or Thai.
  • Previous restaurant management, foodservice outside sales, or chef experience.
  • Background selling to ethnic/independent restaurant segments is a plus.

Certificates, Licenses & Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license and driving record that meets the confidential client’s insurability standards.
  • Automobile insurance with minimum limits: Bodily injury — $100,000 per person / $300,000 per accident; Property damage — $100,000.
  • Ability to pass employment testing and background checks as required.
  • Willingness to sign the confidential client’s protective covenants agreement.
  • Must reside in (or be willing to relocate to) the geographical vicinity of the assigned territory.

  • Estimated base pay: $55,773 per year (estimated).
