Job Summary
This is an outside sales position responsible for promoting Confidential Client’s products and services and building relationships with new and existing accounts. The primary focus is to help customers succeed while achieving sales and profit goals for the assigned territory. The role may require some non-traditional hours (evenings, weekends, holidays) to meet customer needs.
Responsibilities
- Develop new business, penetrate existing accounts, and minimize lost business to achieve profitable sales growth within an assigned territory
- Seek and qualify prospects following account stratification goals
- Research customer needs and recommend a mix of products and services to meet those needs
- Monitor market trends and recommend appropriate products based on customers’ business goals
- Inform customers about product innovations, pricing, and competitive landscape as a value-added service
- Respond to customer questions about products, pricing, availability, and usage
- Provide product information and hands-on training to customer staff as needed
- Drive personal vehicle to customer accounts, conventions, and company meetings
- Manage receivables and communicate with credit teams to collect balances per approved credit terms
- Work with transportation/routing schedules and troubleshoot order/delivery issues (e.g., backorders, special orders, inventory shortages)
- Participate in company promotions, customer visits, and events
- Attend sales and district meetings and engage in ongoing training
- Assist with onboarding and training new employees when requested
- Analyze sales reports, special-order requests, customer bid files, and gross profit margin data
- Prepare sales budgets, maintain sales records, process credits and pick-up requests, and prepare quotes and menu suggestions
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required education/experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, Hospitality, Culinary Arts or related discipline OR
- High school diploma/GED plus 3 years’ restaurant management, B2B or outside sales experience (or equivalent), including completion of a sales internship or comparable training
Preferred Qualifications
- Bi-lingual candidates preferred
- Experience in restaurant management, foodservice outside sales, or as a chef is a plus
Certificates, Licenses & Insurance
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record per Confidential Client insurability standards
- Automobile insurance meeting the following limits: bodily injury — $100,000 per person / $300,000 per accident; property damage — $100,000
Requirements
- Must pass pre-employment testing
- Must sign Confidential Client Protective Covenants Agreement (where applicable)
- Reside in or be willing to relocate to the geographical vicinity of the assigned territory
Professional Skills
- Basic PC skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to read, write, and speak English (bilingual preferred)
