Overview
This outside territory Sales Consultant role supports a leading foodservice distribution client (Confidential Client). You will build and manage restaurant and foodservice customer relationships in the assigned Auburn, AL territory, drive new business development, and help customers succeed while meeting sales and profit goals. This role may require some non-traditional hours (evenings, weekends, holidays) and travel up to 25%.
What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is seeking an outside Sales Consultant to:
- Develop new business and grow existing accounts to achieve profitable sales growth in the assigned territory.
- Prospect, qualify and prioritize opportunities following account stratification goals.
- Recommend product mixes and value-added services tailored to each customer’s needs.
- Monitor market trends and competitor activity and advise customers accordingly.
- Provide product training and practical demonstrations to customer staff.
- Manage daily administrative tasks including sales reports, quotes, customer records, credits and special-order requests.
- Collaborate with credit and transportation teams to resolve account or delivery issues.
- Participate in sales meetings, promotions, customer events and ongoing training.
- Assist in training new sales employees when requested.
Location & Travel
- Territory: Auburn, AL
- Travel: Up to 25%
- Must reside in or be willing to relocate to the geographical vicinity of the assigned territory.
- Drive personal vehicle to customer accounts and company meetings as required.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, Hospitality, Culinary Arts or a related discipline OR
- High school diploma/GED plus 3 years of restaurant management, B2B or outside sales experience (or equivalent relevant experience, including completion of a sales internship).
- Valid driver’s license and automobile insurance that meets the client’s insurability requirements.
- Ability to read, write and speak English.
- Basic PC skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Preferred
- Bi-lingual candidates are preferred.
- Restaurant management, foodservice outside sales, or chef/culinary experience preferred.
Requirements & Hiring Conditions
- Passing employment testing may be required.
- Must sign the Confidential Client Protective Covenants Agreement.
- Must meet the client’s driving record and insurance requirements (example limits noted in source posting).
