Position Overview
Confidential Client in the Energy, Oil & Gas industry is hiring a Safety Specialist 1 (Entry Level) to support site-specific safety programs at a large fabrication yard in Ingleside, TX. This full-time role reports to the Project Safety Manager and focuses on field-level implementation of safety plans, audits, training, incident follow-up, and supporting safe execution of construction work.
Responsibilities
- Exercise Stop Work authority to ensure adherence to safety policies, regulations, work plans, and client expectations.
- Plan, prioritize, and problem-solve daily with operations based on leading indicators and upcoming work.
- Encourage, advise, and support staff and craft employees to execute the Site Specific Safety Plan.
- Assist with maintaining project safety files in compliance with OSHA/MSHA and company policies (including accident/injury documentation).
- Support incident investigations and drive implementation of effective corrective measures.
- Complete daily documented hazard inspections; coordinate corrective actions with operations, craft, and subcontractors.
- Review work plans and detailed work packs prior to job start to identify hazards and controls.
- Deliver and assist with safety training (OSHA/MSHA, NCCER, SIMS, site orientation, and client-specific requirements).
- Provide resources and follow-up to maintain agreed corrective actions and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Health, Safety, Environmental, Occupational Health & Safety, or related field.
- 0–2 years of construction or industrial safety experience; experience coordinating safety training is a plus.
- Working knowledge of construction safety practices and current federal OSHA requirements.
- Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel; comfortable using computer tools to maintain records.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills; able to interact professionally with all levels.
- Attention to detail and ability to recognize discrepancies and drive corrective solutions.
- Self-motivated, team-oriented, and willing to do what’s necessary to get the job done.
- Regular, reliable attendance and ability to work overtime or weekends as required.
Location & Work Environment
- On-site at Confidential Client’s fabrication yard and headquarters in Ingleside, TX (approximately 20 minutes from Corpus Christi). Expect a busy 550‑acre yard with a mix of staff and craft employees working year-round. This is a hands-on field role in an outdoor/industrial environment.
