What You’ll Do
Our confidential client is hiring a Safety Engineer I to implement and support construction site safety programs at project locations. Typical responsibilities include:
- Implement and administer site safety programs; assist project management with site-specific safety plans and orientations.
- Conduct safety orientations and ongoing training for staff and subcontractors.
- Perform work-area safety audits; document and track safety violations and corrective actions.
- Record, monitor, and analyze safety, injury, and hazard statistics; coordinate OSHA reporting.
- Analyze leading and trailing indicator data and recommend improvements.
- Monitor trade partner work plans for safety gaps; assist with onsite injury management and Return-to-Work assignments.
- Evaluate industrial hygiene concerns and ensure proper PPE and safety equipment maintenance.
- Interface with client safety personnel, union representatives, and insurance/risk engineers; join site tours and inspections.
- Help manage the safety budget, lead or attend safety meetings, and support safety recognition initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned to maintain a safe construction environment.
Qualifications
We hire candidates who demonstrate strong safety-focused judgment, attention to detail, and effective communication skills:
- Bachelor's or Associate degree in occupational safety, health, or a related field preferred; OR
- High school diploma plus CHST or STS certification, OSHA 30-hour construction training, and a minimum of five years of continuous construction safety experience.
- Experience administering safety programs, conducting hazard analyses, and developing/implementing controls and safe-work plans.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and common safety-related software.
- Current driver’s license.
- Strong public speaking, presentation, training, and active-listening skills.
- Demonstrated teamwork, leadership, initiative, and problem-solving ability.
- Ability to travel up to 100% to project sites.
- Positive, professional customer-service orientation.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base pay range: $78,800 MIN - $98,500 MAX.
- (Actual range is higher for certain offices: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL – 5%; Seattle, WA and Portland, OR – 10%; Washington, D.C. – 12.5%.)
- This position may be eligible for incentive pay based on individual and project performance.
