Role Overview

Join a multidisciplinary robotics team supporting research & development of industrial robotic, automated, and autonomous systems. As a Robotics Engineer with our confidential client in San Antonio, TX, you will contribute to software, perception, controls, hardware integration, and testing for robots and custom automation systems used by government and commercial customers.


What You’ll Do

  • Design, build, debug, and deploy software and/or hardware solutions for robotic and automated systems.
  • Support motion planning, robot controls, and integration with industrial manipulators and automation hardware.
  • Develop and test 3D perception and processing pipelines, surface reconstruction, and applied machine learning components.
  • Integrate perception and control software with Robot Operating System (ROS) or similar middleware.
  • Coordinate technical tasks with project managers, engineering staff, and external clients.
  • Participate in lab-based development, field deployments, and client-facing meetings.
  • Assist in proposal preparation, cost estimates, and developing technical requirements for new projects.
  • Communicate technical work clearly to internal teams, clients, and partners.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Robotics, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field.
  • 0–5 years experience (BS candidates should have relevant academic research, internships, co-ops, or competition experience; MS/PhD candidates should have relevant graduate work).
  • Hands-on experience in robotics development via industry roles, internships, graduate research, or competition teams.
  • Strong software skills in C++ or Python.
  • Operational or research experience developing software systems (implementation, testing, debugging).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical and client-facing interactions.
  • Valid/clear driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Robot Operating System (ROS).
  • Background in motion planning, path planning, or control for manipulators.
  • Experience in 3D perception, point-cloud processing, and surface reconstruction.
  • Applied machine learning experience relevant to perception or control.
  • Hardware integration experience (mechanical/electrical interfaces, sensors, actuators).
  • Graduate-level research (MS/PhD) in robotics, machine learning, perception, or mechatronics.

Compensation & Location

  • Location: San Antonio, TX (work primarily at client facilities/labs; some travel to customer sites may be required).
  • Employment type: Full-time.
  • Estimated base compensation: $92,151 per year (estimated).
