Role Overview

Confidential Client is seeking an entry-level Roadway Project Engineer to join their transportation team in Round Rock, TX. This role provides hands-on exposure to highway and roadway design, creation of construction documents, drainage and hydraulic analysis, erosion control and maintenance-of-traffic (MOT) plans, quantity computations, specifications, and cost estimating. You will work with project teams, support project procurement activities, and help mentor and coordinate tasks among junior engineers and technicians.


What You’ll Do

  • Assist in the design and production of construction documents for a variety of transportation and roadway projects
  • Develop typical sections, geometric layouts, and roadway cross sections
  • Perform drainage and hydraulic analyses and prepare erosion control plans
  • Create safety feature layouts and maintenance-of-traffic (MOT) plans
  • Produce drafting, quantity takeoffs, specifications, and cost estimates for construction documents
  • Support proposal and marketing activities related to project procurement
  • Mentor and manage task assignments for junior engineers and technicians
  • Use engineering software and standard office tools to complete assignments efficiently

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
  • Registered Engineer in Training (EIT) / Engineer Intern (EI), or ability to obtain EIT/EI within 1 year of employment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Willingness to learn design software, standards, and transportation design workflows

Preferred Skills

  • Internship or prior experience in consulting engineering with a focus on transportation/roadway projects
  • Experience with MicroStation and InRoads / OpenRoads
  • Familiarity with AASHTO highway and traffic publications
  • Basic experience with drainage/hydraulic analysis and plan production
