What You’ll Do

The Resident RN Clinician participates in a structured Nursing Residency Program (NRP) focused on complex medical-surgical care. Under supervision, you will build clinical skills, apply evidence-based practices, and support safe, patient-centered care on med-surg units.

  • Provide patient assessments, implement individualized care plans, and document care accurately.
  • Monitor and evaluate patient responses to nursing interventions and escalate concerns.
  • Support patient and family education; identify learning needs and use available resources.
  • Practice time management and safe delegation aligned with the AACN Synergy Model for Patient Care.
  • Communicate effectively with interdisciplinary team members and seek assistance when needed.
  • Contribute to accurate use and billing of supplies and maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Participate in residency learning activities and complete required trainings and evaluations.

Qualifications

Minimum required:

  • Graduate of an accredited prelicensure Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program.
  • New graduate RNs or entry-level nurses in their first RN role; must enter the residency program within 12 months of graduation (exceptions may be considered for personal or military commitments).
  • Valid, active, unencumbered nursing license or temporary permit approved by the Georgia Licensing Board at time of hire.
  • BLS certification required; ACLS or other certifications may be required depending on assigned department.
  • If performing virtual care that includes multi-state practice, obtain active eNLC compact license within 60 days of hire (where applicable).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Wound Treatment Associate (WTA) certification if assigned to WOC departments.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in high-acuity med-surg settings and strong teamwork/communication skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Medium–heavy physical demands: lifting and carrying weights as described by role (up to 75 lbs max), frequent standing/walking, occasional sitting.
  • Close visual tasks such as computer work, charting, and patient assessment.
  • Physical demands may vary with assigned unit and tasks.

Environmental Factors

Work may include exposure to blood-borne pathogens, biohazards, chemicals, communicable diseases, variable temperatures, shift work, and the need for personal protective equipment including respirators. Travel and variable schedules may be required.
