What You’ll Do
As an inpatient Registered Nurse (RN) you will deliver safe, patient-centered care on a hospital inpatient unit. Working as part of an interdisciplinary team, you will assess patients, implement care plans, and support recovery and discharge planning.
- Provide direct nursing care, assessments, and interventions for assigned patients
- Administer medications and treatments per orders; monitor for effects and document appropriately
- Coordinate care with physicians, therapists, social workers and other team members
- Perform admission, transfer and discharge nursing processes
- Provide patient and family education, including discharge instruction and follow-up needs
- Accurately document care and clinical status in the medical record
- Participate in bedside shift reports, quality improvement, and safety initiatives
- Precept and mentor less-experienced staff or student nurses as assigned
What We’re Looking For
Required minimum qualifications — applicants must meet these to be considered:
- Current, full, active, and unrestricted RN registration/license in a U.S. State, Territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia
- Graduate of an accredited professional nursing program (accredited by ACEN or CCNE) OR equivalent foreign credential with validated equivalency when required
- Proficiency in spoken and written English as required for safe, direct patient care
- Ability to meet physical demands of the role (lifting, standing, manual dexterity) and to follow infection-control and safety procedures
Hiring level is based on education and experience. Typical level/education guidance:
- Nurse I, Level I — ADN or Diploma, entry-level nursing
- Nurse I, Level II — ADN/Diploma + 1 year specialized experience, or BSN with no experience
- Nurse I, Level III — ADN/Diploma + 2 years (one at Level II) or BSN + 1 year Level II experience, or MSN
- Nurse II / Nurse III — experience and graduate degrees required per internal dimension requirements (leadership, evidence-based practice, etc.)
Note: Candidates who meet education requirements but are awaiting initial RN licensure may be considered for temporary Graduate Nurse Technician (GNT) appointments while pursuing licensure, where allowed by applicable rules.
Preferred Experience
- Prior inpatient nursing experience
- Experience in Med-Surg, ICU, or Emergency Department settings
- BSN preferred
- Experience with electronic health records and unit-based quality initiatives
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
- Must be able to perform prolonged periods of walking, standing, bending, pushing and pulling
- Must be able to lift and transfer patients and equipment (may require lifting up to ~50 lbs or more with assistance)
- Potential exposure to infectious patients/materials; use of personal protective equipment required in some situations
- May encounter patients with cognitive or behavioral challenges
- Pre-placement physical assessment and required employee health clearances (e.g., TB screening/testing, annual influenza vaccination or exemption process) are conditions of employment where applicable
Compensation & Schedule
- Location: Louisville, KY
- Employment type: Contract, Part-time
- Salary range: $79,681 - $147,548 per year (listed range reflects the hiring range for this role and will be considered during offer). Actual pay is based on experience, qualifications, and applicable law.
