What You’ll Do
As a Respiratory Therapist for our confidential client you will deliver high-quality cardiopulmonary care across the continuum. You will work as part of an interdisciplinary team to assess, treat, monitor, and educate patients with respiratory and cardiopulmonary conditions while maintaining accurate clinical documentation and supporting quality improvement initiatives.
- Assess and monitor patients with cardiopulmonary disease; perform clinical evaluations and document findings.
- Provide respiratory treatments and therapies (including oxygen therapy, aerosolized medications, airway management, suctioning).
- Manage ventilator settings, perform ventilator weaning, and troubleshoot respiratory equipment.
- Obtain and interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) and other diagnostic measurements.
- Respond to codes and urgent respiratory events; provide airway support per protocols.
- Communicate changes in patient condition, diagnostic results, and response to treatment to the care team.
- Participate in interdisciplinary rounds, patient education, and discharge planning.
- Maintain equipment, follow infection control procedures, and contribute to continuous quality improvement.
Minimum Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited school of Respiratory Therapy.
- Basic computer literacy and ability to maintain electronic clinical documentation.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to exercise initiative and independent clinical judgment.
- Desire for continuous quality improvement and teamwork.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy or a related healthcare field.
- Previous hospital or acute-care experience.
- Additional NBRC specialty credentials (preferred).
Licenses & Certifications
To meet client and state licensure requirements, candidates must have or obtain the following:
- National Board for Respiratory Care entry-level certification (CRT) prior to first day of employment.
- Valid permission/permit to practice from the state licensing board (permanent or temporary) prior to first day of employment.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required upon hire or by the end of one year of employment and must be maintained throughout employment.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire or within 90 days of hire.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or equivalent required upon hire or within 6 months (site-determined).
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) where applicable.
- Additional life support certifications may be required by the site of hire.
- All required certifications must be maintained throughout employment.
