What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is seeking a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) for night-shift clinical care (12-hour shift). This is an entry-level, full-time role providing respiratory diagnostics, therapeutic treatments, and emergency response for adult patients under physician orders or established protocols.

• Administer aerosolized medications (handheld nebulizers, MDI, DPI, large-volume nebulizers, IPV).
• Deliver medical gases (nasal cannula, oxygen mask, high-flow nasal cannula).
• Provide routine tracheostomy care, weaning, and downsizing.
• Assemble, check, and maintain respiratory equipment and supplies to ensure safety and functionality.
• Document assessments, procedures, and patient responses in the electronic medical record.
• Perform airway clearance (chest physiotherapy, vibratory PEP devices, cough assist, nasotracheal suctioning).
• Assess pulmonary mechanics using portable spirometry devices.
• Respond to cardiopulmonary arrests and rapid response calls; provide emergency therapy for non‑traumatic respiratory crises.
• Educate patients, families, physicians, nurses, and team members on respiratory procedures, devices, and disease processes.
• Provide noninvasive ventilatory support (CPAP/BiPAP) and support invasive ventilation for clinically stable patients using home ventilators when appropriate.
• Obtain and analyze arterial blood gases (ABGs).
• Supervise/training support staff and community college students working on general medical floors.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of an AMERICAN MEDICAL ASSOCIATION (AMA)–approved respiratory care program with an associate degree required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Experience: No prior respiratory care experience required; this role is appropriate for entry-level RCPs.
• Skills:
  • Strong verbal and written communication; ability to adjust communication to patient/family/provider needs.
  • Critical thinking, clinical analysis, and reflective practice.
  • Familiarity with infection-control practices and PPE use.
  • Working knowledge of cardiopulmonary anatomy, physiology, and common disease processes.
  • Commitment to patient-centered care and excellent customer service.

Licenses & Certifications

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) required; advanced credentials preferred (e.g., RRT-ACCS, RRT-NPS, CPFT, RPFT).
• California Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license required for practice in CA.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required.

Work Schedule & Compensation

• Shift: Night — 12‑hour shifts.
• Employment type: Full-time.
• Base pay scale (posted): $61.34 – $69.10 per hour. Pay for the selected candidate will be determined based on experience, education, specialty, and internal equity and is not a guaranteed wage.
• This position provides hands-on clinical training opportunities and experience with a broad range of respiratory therapies, emergency response, and ventilator management.

Physical Demands & Work Conditions

• Category I Bloodborne Pathogen tasks (exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues).
• Duties require physical activity consistent with bedside clinical work, including patient handling, equipment transport, and timely response to emergency calls.
• Work in a hospital/clinical environment with standard infection-control protocols.
