Role overview
Confidential Client is seeking an entry-level Residue Chemistry Assistant Scientist to join their Scientific & QA team in Pierpont, MO. This role is ideal for recent graduates or early-career scientists who want hands-on laboratory experience in residue analysis and analytical chemistry under GLP-like processes.
What you’ll do
- Carry out routine and somewhat complex laboratory experiments and procedures per protocol, methods, and SOPs while complying with applicable regulatory standards (for example: EPA, FDA, FIFRA, OECD).
- Analyze organic and inorganic compounds to determine chemical and physical properties.
- Prepare standards, controls, and specifications for laboratory processes, products, and tests.
- Use laboratory instrumentation, computer resources, and data systems to collect and review data.
- Perform first-level and peer review of data for accuracy and completeness; prepare reports that meet auditable quality requirements.
- Handle regulated or sensitive materials only where assigned and per safety protocols.
- Support GLP study execution and may assist senior staff in planning study conduct.
- Instrument experience (especially LC-MS/MS) is a strong plus.
Responsibilities
- Execute sample preparation, extraction, and clean-up procedures.
- Operate and maintain analytical instruments and lab equipment following SOPs.
- Record, analyze, and summarize data accurately in lab notebooks or electronic systems.
- Participate in quality control, calibration, and routine maintenance tasks.
- Communicate findings clearly with team members and supervisors.
- Follow health, safety, and environmental procedures at all times.
Qualifications
- Strong organizational, computer, and scientific skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to learn new laboratory techniques and follow written instructions.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team; adaptable and self-motivated.
- Comfortable performing multiple tasks and maintaining accurate records.
Minimum qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry, biology, environmental science, or a directly related field — or equivalent coursework demonstrating comparable competence.
- Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship.
Working conditions & location
- This is a full-time, on-site role based in Pierpont, MO. Typical hours are Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m., with occasional overtime and weekend shifts as required.
- Candidates should live within a commutable distance of Pierpont, MO or be willing to relocate.
