Residential Support Specialist

What You’ll Do
Careertakes is supporting a Confidential Client hiring Residential Support Specialists to provide high-quality, person-centered care in residential settings. As a Residential Support Specialist you will support adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities or with mental health–related diagnoses through daily living assistance, skills coaching, and community integration.
- Offer guidance and side-by-side coaching during skills-building activities
- Develop and help implement individualized treatment and support plans
- Assist with daily living activities (meal prep, money management, medical appointments, personal hygiene)
- Promote health, wellness, symptom stabilization and self-management strategies
- Maintain appropriate staff-to-client ratios and ensure a safe environment
- Build supportive, trusting relationships with residents and help increase community involvement
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred
- Experience: Entry-level through experienced candidates considered — 0–6 years relevant experience depending on role level; experience in mental health, special education, direct support, or human services is beneficial
- Certifications & Requirements:
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Must be or be able to become MAP certified
- Must be or be able to become CPR/First Aid certified within five months of hire (training provided)
- Clear background check and eligibility to work in the U.S. required
Compensation & Schedule
- Pay: $20.00 per hour
- $2.00 per hour differential for high-intensity programs
- Employment type: Part-time (additional full-time openings may be posted separately); day, evening and overnight shifts available

Work Location & Additional Info
Primary work location: Chelsea, MA. Positions support residential homes across the Greater Boston area; applicants should indicate preferred location and shift. This role may require travel between sites and reliable transportation.
