Position overview

This is an entry-level Reservoir Engineering role supporting mineral and royalty investment work for a confidential client operating in the oil & gas mineral and royalty investing space. The role offers on-the-job training and exposure to reservoir engineering, production analysis, economic modeling, mapping, and investment underwriting. The position is based in Trammells, TX.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate mineral and royalty acquisition opportunities across the Lower 48 with emphasis on the Permian, Eagle Ford, and Haynesville.
• Analyze well performance using decline curve analysis, production data, type curves, and completion characteristics.
• Build production forecasts and economic models to support acquisition underwriting.
• Review lease operating statements, well-level financials, ownership interests, taxes, differentials, and related commercial data.
• Build and maintain ComboCurve databases (production forecasts, ownership interests, tax/differential assumptions, economics).
• Create and maintain ArcGIS maps for land positions, existing/future wells, permits, rig activity, and operator activity.
• Monitor drilling and development activity in target basins and track operator programs.
• Maintain and analyze production and economic data for company-owned mineral and royalty assets.
• Assist with technical due diligence and analytical work for acquisitions and portfolio monitoring.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• 0–5 years of relevant experience; recent graduates and early-career engineers are encouraged to apply.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, sorting/filtering, data cleanup).
• Familiarity with decline curve analysis, production forecasting, and basic economic modeling.
• Ability and willingness to learn ComboCurve, ArcGIS, and other industry-specific tools.
• Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational ability.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills; able to explain technical concepts clearly.
• Self-motivated, takes ownership of assigned work, and can work independently with limited supervision.
