Overview

Confidential Client is seeking a Research Technologist to join an R&D team in Baytown, TX. This is a full-time, contract role (estimated pay: $28–$32 / hour) supporting materials and product characterization using a range of analytical instruments. The role is entry-level friendly — hands-on training will be provided — and is a strong fit for recent graduates or early-career technologists with laboratory instrument experience or strong technical aptitude.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot analytical and characterization equipment, including:
  • Particle size analyzers
  • X-ray diffraction (XRD)
  • X-ray fluorescence (XRF)
  • Softening point measurement instruments
  • Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA)
  • Rheometers
  • Density measurement instruments
• Perform routine and non-routine analyses following SOPs and project requirements.
• Record, interpret, and report experimental data with high accuracy and traceability.
• Follow and promote laboratory HSE (Health, Safety, Environment) and contribute to a strong laboratory safety culture.
• Collaborate with scientists, engineers, and technicians on experimental design and data reporting.
• Support documentation tasks, including gMOCs (global Management of Change), calibration schedules, inventory, and LIMS or data-system entry.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance lab efficiency and data integrity.

Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics, Biology, or a related scientific field.
  • Recent graduates are strongly encouraged to apply; comprehensive hands-on training is provided.
• Demonstrated technical aptitude and willingness to learn advanced laboratory and analytical techniques.
• Experience handling laboratory instruments and following detailed technical procedures (academic or industrial experience acceptable).
• Strong data management, documentation, and reporting skills with attention to detail.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); experience with LIMS or lab data systems is a plus.
• Strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills; ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.
• Commitment to safety, quality, and ongoing professional development.
