Research Specialist (KSAS - Mind Brain Institute) - Staff

What You’ll Do
You will support laboratory research within the Mind Brain Institute by planning and running experiments, troubleshooting assays, and preparing results for publication. This is a hands-on role that requires independence on routine tasks, strong attention to data quality, and the ability to train or orient less experienced lab members.
- Plan and run experiments after discussion with investigators; modify protocols within investigator-defined parameters
- Perform, troubleshoot, and document assays and experiments related to ongoing research
- Interpret experimental controls and results; evaluate component performance
- Process analyzed data into publication-ready figures and contribute to methods sections of manuscripts
- Train and orient students, interns, and new staff on lab techniques and safety procedures
- Assist with ordering and inventory of supplies and interface with vendors as needed
- Contribute to development and optimization of new techniques and laboratory instrumentation
- Participate in protocol development to improve efficiency and reproducibility
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, or a related field
- At least one year of laboratory experience performing relevant techniques
- Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education under the employer’s equivalency policy
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a molecular, cellular, or neuroscience research laboratory
- Demonstrated ability to prepare figures and summarize experimental results for publications
- Experience training or mentoring junior lab personnel
- Familiarity with ordering laboratory supplies and working with vendors
