What You’ll Do
The Confidential Client seeks an Open Rank Research and Grants Specialist to support post-award grant administration and research finance for clinical and research programs. This role partners with PIs, division administrators, the Office of Grants and Contracts, and external sponsors to ensure accurate award setup, compliance, and financial reporting.
Key responsibilities:
- Creates, monitors, and maintains monthly financial reports for PIs and division leadership.
- Ensure award setup reflects sponsor terms, projected spending, and institutional requirements; request rebudgeting when needed.
- Prepare documentation for subcontract creation; track contract execution, account setup, invoicing, and compliance.
- Review expenditures to confirm adherence to institutional policies and applicable federal, state, and sponsor regulations.
- Complete journal entries and payroll expense transfers for grant accounts.
- Coordinate with Pre-Award staff to process progress reports (e.g., RPPRs) and other sponsor-required deliverables.
- Provide post-award services and financial oversight for clinical trials.
- Serve as a customer-focused liaison to research teams, offering clear guidance on sponsored project processes and timelines.
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications (by level):
- Entry Level:
- Bachelor’s degree in public health, public administration, social/behavioral sciences, physical sciences, nursing, healthcare, finance, accounting, business administration, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
- Intermediate Level:
- Bachelor’s degree in one of the fields above.
- At least 1 year of professional experience in sponsored project administration.
- Senior Level:
- Bachelor’s degree in one of the fields above.
- At least 2 years of professional experience in sponsored project administration.
- Education may be substituted with related technical/military/paraprofessional experience on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred:
- Experience in a healthcare environment or academic research setting.
- 3+ years of grant experience at an institution of higher learning.
- Familiarity with institutional finance systems (e.g., InfoEd, m-Fin, Concur, Marketplace) or comparable platforms.
- Clinical, laboratory, or research experience.
- Contracts, billing, or finance experience.
- Program or project management experience.
Required:
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
Skills & Abilities
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills; ability to build relationships with staff at all levels.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to interpret sponsor terms and institutional policies and translate them into actionable steps for research teams.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced academic medical environment and managing multiple priorities.
Work Location & Schedule
- Work location: Hybrid — on-campus presence typically 2–3 days per week in Aurora, CO (or as required for meetings).
- Position is full-time.
Compensation
Anticipated pay ranges by rank (as provided by the Confidential Client):
- Entry Level: $50,160 - $67,215 per year
- Intermediate Level: $54,586 - $73,145 per year
- Senior Level: $59,012 - $79,076 per year
