Role Overview
Confidential client is seeking an early-career Research Engineer (Avionics Hardware) to support avionics electronics, circuit card assemblies (CCA), and embedded hardware design, integration, and test for aerospace and defense applications. This contract, full-time role provides hands-on project work, mentorship from senior engineers, and opportunities to develop practical skills in avionics hardware design, lab troubleshooting, and verification.
What You’ll Do
- Support design, development, analysis, integration, and test of avionics electronics, circuit card assemblies, and embedded hardware.
- Create and update schematics, bills of material (BOMs), wiring/interface definitions, and basic electrical documentation under guidance.
- Perform circuit calculations, component research, tolerance reviews, and bench measurements for analog, digital, power, and mixed-signal circuits.
- Assist with prototype build, bring-up, integration, and test of CCAs, embedded electronics, sensors, and test equipment.
- Troubleshoot hardware in the lab using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, power supplies, and similar instruments.
- Use schematic-capture, simulation, and data-analysis tools; maintain engineering documentation and configuration control.
- Collaborate with systems, software/firmware, mechanical, test, and manufacturing teams to resolve technical issues.
- Prepare test procedures, test reports, design updates, and technical data to support development, qualification, and sustainment activities.
- Learn and apply applicable aerospace and defense design standards and processes.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
- Experience level: entry (0 years). Acceptable experience includes academic projects, internships, co-ops, laboratory work, senior design, or research involving electronic hardware, circuit design, embedded systems, avionics, or electrical test.
- Valid / clear driver’s license required.
Preferred Skills & Tools
- Familiarity with schematic-capture and circuit simulation (SPICE/PSpice).
- Hands-on experience or coursework with PCB/CCA development, bench instrumentation, or embedded electronics.
- Familiarity with one or more programming/scripting languages used in engineering contexts (C/C++, Python, MATLAB).
- Practical use of oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power supplies, and multimeters.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.
- Good written and verbal communication; ability to produce clear engineering documentation.
Work Type & Compensation
- Employment type: Full Time (CONTRACTOR + FULL_TIME).
- Estimated salary (provided by source): $110,505 per year (estimated). Actual pay may vary by experience, location, and other factors.
- Location: Warr Acres, OK — on-site or as defined by the confidential client and applicable contract terms.
