Overview

Confidential Client is hiring a Research Data Analyst I to support laboratory and computational research in immunology and autoimmune disease research. This entry-level research data role will support data management, basic bioinformatics pipelines, and data visualization for projects including genetic risk scores, PhIP-Seq, single-cell RNA-seq, and ATAC-seq.


What You’ll Do

  • Gather, clean, and organize research datasets from multiple experimental pipelines.
  • Run established analysis pipelines and follow standard programming procedures to process data.
  • Assist with single-cell RNA-seq and ATAC-seq data preprocessing and basic analyses.
  • Assist with PhIP-Seq data processing and large dataset handling.
  • Prepare figures, tables, and summaries to support proposals, protocols, manuscripts, and presentations.
  • Maintain research data collection, retrieval, and reporting systems; document workflows and code.
  • Contribute to data science research activities and predictive-analytics tasks under supervision.
  • Create and maintain scripts and small-scale programs in support of reproducible analyses.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and communicate results clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (biological sciences, computer science, data science) or equivalent experience/training.
  • Direct hands-on experience in bioinformatics or computational biology research.
  • Proficiency in both Python and R.
  • Familiarity with basic data science workflows and statistical modeling.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and deliver assigned project segments on deadline.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills for explaining technical results to collaborators.

Preferred / Additional

  • Experience with single-cell RNA-seq and ATAC-seq data workflows.
  • Experience with PhIP-Seq or other high-throughput immunopeptidomics data.
  • Familiarity with data storage, documentation, and version-controlled codebases.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently and in interdisciplinary teams.

Skills & Tools

  • Python (pandas, numpy, scanpy/Seurat interfaces)
  • R (tidyverse, ggplot2)
  • Basic experience with single-cell and bulk sequencing pipelines
  • Experience handling large datasets and reproducible analysis workflows
  • Basic statistical modeling and experience with predictive analytics/AI techniques

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
  • Coursework in biological sciences and computer science recommended.

Compensation & Location

  • Estimated salary: $48,312 per year (estimated from source posting).
  • Location: South San Francisco, CA (on-site / local research lab).
