What You’ll Do

You will support a research team by managing and analyzing virome and other next-generation sequencing (NGS) data and maintaining related clinical and specimen metadata. Day-to-day responsibilities include:

• Manage and analyze NGS/virome sequencing datasets, including quality control and preprocessing.
• Align sequence data to virome/reference databases and run downstream analyses.
• Perform basic statistical analyses of molecular data to support study conclusions.
• Maintain accurate research records and organize sequence and metadata for internal use and public repositories.
• Enter, update, and manage clinical and specimen metadata in REDCap and other data systems.
• Collaborate with the Principal Investigator (PI) and senior lab personnel to support experiments, PCR/NGS analyses, and project documentation.
• Support reproducible workflows and help prepare data for publications or presentations.

Qualifications

Required

• Demonstrated computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft applications.
• Ability and desire to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to create and maintain accurate records.
• Effective written and verbal communication to convey experimental results.
• Experience with basic bioinformatic analysis of DNA/RNA sequencing data.
• Experience using bioinformatics frameworks or scripting (R, Python).
• Ability to perform statistical analyses of molecular data.
• Expertise in sequence and metadata organization.

Preferred

• Knowledge of genetics, molecular biology, and biochemical principles.

Education & Certifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Biostatistics, or equivalent (preferred).

Compensation & Benefits

• Hourly pay range: USD 33.09 – 65.77 per hour (per source). Actual offers depend on experience, education, and other job-related factors.
• Confidential Client offers benefits consistent with institutional policies; benefit eligibility and start dates follow the client’s HR guidelines.

Schedule & Conditions

• Typical schedule: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
• Employment is contingent on satisfactory background and Live Scan checks.
• Position may require proof of COVID and flu vaccinations.
• This role is designated as a mandatory reporter under CANRA; the employee must sign the required acknowledgement.
