What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is seeking an entry-level Research Associate in Population Sciences to support clinical and computational research on hematologic malignancies. You will work under the direction of the Principal Investigator and collaborate with multi-PI consortia to collect, manage, analyze, and present human-subjects research data.

• Support design and implementation of clinical research protocols involving human subjects.
• Recruit, screen, and consent study participants using approved methods (outreach, surveys, interviews).
• Conduct study visits and collect clinical and research data according to IRB, regulatory, and protocol requirements.
• Enter, maintain, and QC clinical and research data (outcomes, surveys, case report forms).
• Perform preliminary data analyses and produce summary visuals (graphs, charts, tables).
• Proofread and verify research documentation for accuracy.
• Prepare and assist with presentations for scientific meetings and organize results for peer-reviewed submissions.
• Assist in drafting, editing, and proofreading manuscripts, study reports, and regulatory documents.
• Coordinate study materials, supplies, and support documentation for audits and monitoring visits.
• Maintain confidentiality and data-security standards for research records and workspaces.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Unique Duties — Computational Genomics Focus

This role combines clinical research responsibilities with computational genomics work. You will contribute to analyses using large-scale -omic datasets and public cohorts to study susceptibility and survival in blood cancers.

• Design, execute, and interpret genetic association studies (quantitative and binary traits) from large-scale cohorts.
• Work with -omic data types (GWAS, sequencing, RNA-seq, ATAC-seq) and integrate public resources (All of Us, UK Biobank, dbGaP).
• Perform data QC, variant- and gene-based analyses, and summary result interpretation.
• Collaborate with consortium partners and present analysis outcomes to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Stay current with human genetics and computational methods and discuss methodological developments with team members.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in public health, psychology, social sciences, nursing, biology, computational biology, genetics, or a related field.
• Intermediate experience (approximately 3–4 years) in job-related research activities preferred.
• Prior experience with clinical or human-subjects research (recruitment, informed consent, data collection, regulatory documentation) is preferred.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple research activities while following protocols and timelines.
• Ability to analyze, summarize, and communicate clinical and research findings in written reports and presentations.
• Knowledge of human-subject protections, IRB requirements, and research integrity principles.
• Strong interpersonal skills for working with diverse populations, clinical staff, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); familiarity with clinical research databases or electronic data capture systems preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

• MS in Statistical Genetics, Human Genetics with Computational Biology, Quantitative Epidemiology, or related field — OR BS plus 3+ years of equivalent experience.
• Hands-on experience with data QC and analysis of human genomic data (WES/WGS/array genotyping).
• Familiarity with EHR-linked research cohorts (e.g., UK Biobank, All of Us) and genomics resources (gnomAD, TOPMed, 1000 Genomes).
• Proficiency in R required; Python is a plus.
• Working knowledge of Unix/Linux and cloud computing environments.
• Experience with GWAS/association tools and pipelines and with communicating results for publication or conferences.
• Some experience contributing to peer-reviewed publications or conference presentations is preferred.

Compensation
