What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is seeking an Associate / Research Associate in Molecular Biology to support preclinical in vivo studies, primarily with mice and rats. You will work under Study Directors and Scientists to execute study procedures, maintain data quality, and help ensure animal welfare and regulatory compliance.

  • Perform animal handling and study procedures in mice and rats, including dosing, blood collection, clinical observations, necropsy, and tissue collection.
  • Assist with study setup: animal receipt and randomization, room and equipment preparation, and study closeout.
  • Perform specialized procedures and disease-model techniques following training and approved protocols.
  • Process, label, store, and ship biological samples accurately.
  • Maintain complete and timely study records: animal observations, procedures, samples, and other study data.
  • Follow approved IACUC protocols, SOPs, animal welfare requirements, and applicable regulatory guidelines.
  • Recognize and promptly communicate animal health concerns, unexpected findings, protocol deviations, or other study issues.
  • Maintain study supplies and communicate equipment or supply needs.
  • Work collaboratively with Study Directors, Scientists, veterinary staff, and other research personnel.
  • Develop technical proficiency and independence; assist with training less-experienced personnel as appropriate.

Estimated compensation: $72,954 per year (estimated).


Qualifications

Required / Strongly preferred

  • Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Animal Science, Life Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, or related field preferred; relevant entry-level candidates with hands-on experience considered.
  • Laboratory animal experience, especially with mice and/or rats; competency in rodent routes of administration and blood collection.
  • Experience performing necropsy and tissue collection.
  • Ability to follow detailed protocols and SOPs and accurately document work.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data integrity.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work in a team environment.

Nice to have

  • Experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, academic research, or CRO settings.
  • Prior exposure to disease-model techniques and specialized in vivo procedures.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

This is a laboratory- and vivarium-based role that routinely handles laboratory rodents. The position requires standing for extended periods, use of required PPE, and occasional lifting of supplies and equipment.

  • Routine handling of mice and rats and use of PPE.
  • Ability to lift laboratory supplies and equipment (typical lab lifting).
  • Comfortable working in controlled animal care areas and following strict biosafety and animal-welfare procedures.
