Role overview

This Research Associate I role supports public health research projects focused on disease surveillance, health communication, rural health, interpersonal conflict and violence, and social determinants of health. The position is hybrid, based in the Chicago Loop office (minimum six days per month onsite). The role combines literature review, basic statistical analysis, survey support, and written deliverables under the supervision of experienced researchers.

What You’ll Do

• Provide general research support for public health and health policy studies
• Conduct literature reviews and summarize findings
• Perform basic statistical analysis of primary and secondary data and produce memos, tables, and graphs
• Support survey activities: instrument testing, ongoing data review, and data cleaning
• Schedule and take notes for virtual and in-person interviews; draft meeting minutes
• Help develop project materials (report outlines, visual exhibits) and edit deliverables
• Support business development by preparing background research and coordinating proposal documents
• Perform other duties as assigned under direction of senior staff

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, or related field
• Minimum 6 months of research experience (including internships) in health research, public health, or health policy using qualitative and/or quantitative methods
• Basic knowledge of research principles, methods, and processes (qualitative and/or quantitative)
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to multi-task
• Ability to work collaboratively on multidisciplinary teams
• Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Occasional travel for site visits or meetings may be required
• Must be eligible to work in the U.S.; visa sponsorship is not available for this position

Preferred / Helpful Experience

• Experience supporting survey data collection and instrument testing
• Familiarity with data cleaning and basic statistical workflows
• Exposure to public health topics, health communications, or health policy research

Salary & Benefits

• Base pay: $56,000 per year
